Kieldrechtsluis Antwerp

Belgium

As part of the construction of the Kieldrechtsluis – the Kieldrecht Lock – on the left bank of the Scheldt River in the Port of Antwerp (Belgium), AMCS anti-collision systems ensured the coordination of the tower cranes deployed on this major infrastructure project. The works, which began in 2011 and were completed in 2016, led to the construction of the world’s largest lock by water volume, measuring 500 metres in length, 68 metres in width, and with an operational depth of 17.8 metres. This strategic structure allows the largest vessels to access the left-bank terminals, significantly improving the port’s logistical capacity and competitiveness.

Around ten tower cranes, of various brands and models, were equipped with AMCS systems. The confined environment, the scale of the concrete structures, and the long project timeline required precise zone management to ensure a high level of safety, efficiency, and fluid coordination during all lifting operations.
